The Politico-Economic Climate Of Africa Needs Natural Smart Leaders To Manage Its Affairs
20.04.2015 LISTEN

When writing on such a topic for my class, remembering the continent I come from and a country I uphold that is Ghana, and asking myself a question, what has gone wrong and what is still going wrong in our politico-economic management affairs, Which make it much elusive to believe, Ghana and Africa as a whole could one day see itself as an economic giant in global affairs. Not forgetting what is happening recently in South Africa.

I have written a lot of articles, essays for publication yet more to write to educate our people, furthermore to do more field work to educate the masses and strengthen our public lecture pragmatically to address the realistic needs of our people, especially focusing on the new generation mindset orientation.

I became drunk with joy when I saw the emerging of the YPEN Think Tank for the Youth in Ghana, the great works of the Occupy Ghana, IMANI, IDEG, Pan-African Youth Empowerment, and African Liberty Organization playing a major role in their area of speciality to transform the destiny of Africa positively. Applaud to the wonderful work the social media is doing to connect this expert on a virtual platform for intellectual discourse.

In my two weeks research into the above topic, I came to realise, not that, Africa does not have enough knowledge or understanding of the kind of leadership the continent need but realise that there is a trend of a certain kind of leadership dominating the African Politico-economic climate, which I term it; Artificial smart leaders and if such kind of leadership is not corrected immediately our economic development will continue to elude us.

To define Artificial Smart leader, need first the definition of a smart leader or define the term 'Smartness'; it is Intelligence manifested in being quick and witty. According to Thesaurus dictionary, 'Ability to understand and reason'. For further search into Concise Oxford English Dictionary, 'it defined it as having a quick intelligence and programmed so as to be capable of independent in action'.

Now back to the core argument of this essay, Understanding the term smartness makes it easy to defined artificial smart Leaders; 'These are people trained to attain a certain level of intelligence by man's handwork', Opposite to the Artificial Smart Leaders are the Natural Smart Leaders; 'These are people naturally endowed with intelligence and the role man's hand work play is to offer them a professional skills which in academics defined as pedagogy.

CHARACTER OF NATURALLY SMART LEADERS

  1. They are not easily influenced or persuaded, to change what they believe because of status quo. Their actions are always guided by sound reasoning and intellectual principles.

  1. They are quiet independent minded as some may perceive them to be controversial and act according to their conscience directions and principles.

  1. They are unprepared to compromise with the system and drive along with the waves for benefit sake.

  1. Mostly not popular in their goal pursuit within their peers, often remembered of their remarkable works after their death by the new generation accepting and appreciating their works, such is the case of Prof. Albert Einstein of Germany whose academic works were remembered a decade after his death, that of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah of Ghana, Sir Isaac Newton of Britain, Sir Claude Frederic Bastiat of France, Prof. Ludwig Von Mises of Australia, these are few to mention. Among all this smart scholars and those not mentioned only few are recognized when still alive.

  1. These naturally smart people are never in hurry to assume a high office and mostly reluctant because of the fear to manage a corrupt system and it implication to their life, taking a cue from the Christian Holy Book which says, 'If the foundation is weak, what could the righteous man do'.

Prof. Schumpeter Joseph in one of his economic lecture once said, if Prof. Adam Smith was as smart as projected today, such public exposure would have elude him. This support my argument that the Politico-economic management climate deny smart people to carry the state development affairs due to the five basic fact as the character of naturally smart people stated earlier in this essay. Mostly those who grabbed the power, with do and die affairs, are often identified as artificial smart leaders, but also not surprise the system continue to seeks for such people because many of the participant of the system are just spectators, very ignorant and less enlightened on how the politico-economic system works, and highly exposed to manipulation meant to meet the interest of the few who understand the system very well.

These few self centred artificial smart leaders have always battle with all they have, to stop the functioning of liberalism ideologies in accordance to the interest of the few self centred elite who support their effort to such high office of the state because of their expected benefit. They have always known for a fact, that the very day the last ignorant citizen in African understands that their ignorance has been sustaining the present central government functioning and it mismanagement of our resource and retarding our economic growth instead of improving it; Politics as a full time business profession and the drive for power to ascend Presidency will die out to create a new system of leadership that will lead the people by their will. 'Then the word honourable assigned as part of their titles as leaders will have a significant meaning because it will be the call and the duty of the nobles not thieves to run affairs of the state'.

If it happens as anticipated, then the Naturally smart leaders will have confident to take the mantle, prepared to live for the people, in return to see progress in the life's of their people, because they will allow their people to be practically involved in the decision making of the state for the progress of their life and their neighbours. Then we will work in unity and harmony by understanding that, until we work in a uniform order, our economic progress and comparative market advantage will not be achieved.

Let us never forget, the present divisions on how we think, act and do our business as Entrepreneurs, support the present political economic system to survive, that highly benefit the politician most than the ordinary citizens. In Ghana, it is very difficult to see two small scale enterprises in the same venture to come together in a common sense and reasoning to operate for increase income generation in the economic market. The only organizations that easily seem to work under unity are the entities establish by Government.

Think Tanks so called with high level learned people are not ready to call for a unit front to generate greater momentum, with expert of different speciality and skills to shake the corruptness of the politico-economic climate that are not in favour of the masses but to the pocket of the few, because each one feel too big in it shoes, that is the problem. Until we understand that, to operate in free market principles need a basic understanding of quality exchange laws willingly from a united front, and when such assertion is validated by actions, the power of central government will cease to exist because the people do not need central government intervention to influence the economic market operations.

Always never forget most of the highly profiled works of the socialist is to fight for the existence and sustainability of government power because government with no power ceases to be government and that is where most of the politicians make their daily bread for their family and themselves. As a result of that, will always create an imbalance economic market situation unknown to many ignorant, and create artificial state enemies not existing, sometime have to use innocent life as a sacrificial lamb for their strategic agenda to create instability as a cause of evil works, and then present themselves as Gods to solve the mess to win the trust and the faith of the masses as their saviour.

The trust of the masses in government is directly proportional to the power attainment, which is an important politico-economic management equation. The central government now is playing every role in most nations to reject the maturity of their people to reason and act for themselves and make them independent through the theory of liberalism. In an attempt to achieve that, they have to innovatively create artificial war which could cause it citizens to run to them as the best hope and alternative answer, with the ignorant people, not knowing the same central government are the machinery and architect of the war for market destabilization and the economic hardship of the African continent.

Wake up citizens of Africa, most of the State Institution apparatus work not according to constitutional mandate known by the people but rather a work of causing disorder and disunity among its people a means to heightened the power of the central government through it Messianic intervention.

Things are falling apart in African Politics and it Economic Management, and things could only fall apart according to Prof. Achebe when the centre cannot hold. We need natural intelligent leaders to hold our centre for us, to enable the politico-economic climate of the continent not to fall apart but to drive in a cohesive manner.
