Tamale, April 17, GNA - Alhaji Limuna Mohammed-Muniru, Northern Regional Minister, on Friday presented 1,615 laptop computers to teacher trainees in Information and Communication Technology and five brand new Toyota pick-ups to five newly created districts in the region.

The presentation, which was held in Tamale, was to enhance quality teaching and learning and to build the capacity for ICT teachers in the newly created districts.

The five brand new Toyota pick-up vehicles were presented to Kumbungu, Mion, Tatale, North Gonja and Mamprugu Moaduri districts out of the six districts which fall under the Ghana Partnership for Education Grant (GPEG).

Alhaji Mohammed-Muniru said the vehicles would go a long way to enhance monitoring and supervision which, hitherto, had been a problem for these new districts.

He also presented 74 trolleys to some selected basic schools while 10 projectors were also presented to some district education offices to improve presentations during training.

He said the Regional Co-ordinating Council and the Education Directorate would be monitoring the districts to ensure that the laptops and vehicles were used for the purposes for which they were presented.

Alhaji Mohammed-Muniru urged the education authorities to pay attention to issues of monitoring to ensure quality education in the country.

He called on parents to assist teachers to work collectively to address most of the challenges of bad behaviours and attitudes in children.

Alhaji Mohammed Haroun, the Northern Regional Director of Education, advised the beneficiaries to take good care of the equipment to achieve quality education.
