Accra, April. 17, GNA - The Goethe Institute on Friday held its 8th annual national cultural festival of German Language in Accra to entertain the youth.

The festival, which was held at the Institute's premises, was a football fun filled event that attracted performances from 26 selected schools around the country, to promote the learning and understanding of the German language.

Mr Ruediger John, the German Ambassador to Ghana, said the event was to give students an opportunity to meet their colleagues studying the German language, have fun and share experiences together.

He said consistent celebration of the annual festival has increased the number of students in the school, since many students are attracted to apply each time the festival is celebrated.

On his part, Mr John noted that, the most important thing the event sought to achieve was to entertain the students and to socialize.

He said the Embassy supports the school with materials and finance whenever necessary.

The Ambassador also said Germany was putting up measures to enhance the vocational and heath sector of the country.

Mrs Eva Asante, the Organizer of the game clubs said the event was also held to encourage Ghanaians to learn the German language.

Among the schools that participated in the event were Crown Prince Academy, Goethe- Institute, Ghana Institute of languages, Danadsi School, German Swiss School, College of Pierre Claver, and Cradle of Grace Montessori.
