ER GJA to acquire a parcel of land

The Eastern Regional Minister, Mr. Antwi-Boasiako Sekyere, has pledged to assist the regional Ghana Journalists Association to acquire a piece of land for the construction of a press centre.

The Regional Minister made the pledge when he presented a ram, two maxi bags of rice, a curton of cooking oil and an undisclosed amount to the regional chapter of the GJA.

The donation was to support the GJA towards the upcoming world press freedom day celebrations in may.

Presenting the items, Mr. Antwi Boasiako said the media continued to play very important role in the development of the nation and hence need to be supported to execute thier mandate.

He said the doors of the Regional Coordinating Council was always open to the media in the region for more collaborations geared towards developing the region.

Accepting the donation on behalf of the association, Mr. Maxwell Kudekor, Regional Secretary to the GJA thanked the Regional Minister for the kind gesture.

He said that the gesture was the first a Regional Minister had done, adding that, it showed how the media were prime in his heart.

Mr. Kudekor assured the Regional Minister of the media's continuous support and building of strong relationship with the RCC.

The United Nations declared May 03 as world press freedom day which will be observed as such by all nations.

However the Eastern Regional GJA has scheduled to celebrate the day in the later part of May with inter -professional games and lectures.

The lectures will be delivered by some high profile personalities in Ghana.
