The Regional Police Command has received a tip-off leading to the arrest of Yussif Salam 26, a welder, Kassim Sani 25 butcher and Wilson Sulley 22, a Fork Lift operator.

The Greater Accra Regional Police Command on 26th February, 2015 had a tip-off that a gang of robbers were planning to attack a residence in Israel, a suburb of Accra.

The Accra Regional Police Commander, DCOP/ Christian Tetteh Yohuno told a news conference that the command swiftly dispatched a team of Policemen to the location to avert the situation and fortunately, these suspects were arrested on their arrival at the residence.

He said when a search was conducted on them, the Police retrieved one sten gun, one foreign pistol and five rounds of live ammunition.

“Police preliminary Investigations revealed that, this gang of robbers is responsible for several robbery activities in Israel, Kasoa and Ashongman its environs areas,” the Regional Commander told the press.

According to him, these robbers, in their modus operandi, lay ambush in the Community and in most cases attack, rob and injure their victims during odd hours.

He noted that the three suspects were arrested on 3rd march, 2015 and are currently in Police custody assisting with investigations.

Meanwhile DCOP/ Christian T. Yohuno cautioned the general public to be security conscious at all times and report unknown persons who loiter in their communities as spies to the Police.

The Regional Commander added that the Police Informant Reward System is still active and that people who volunteer credible, reliable and timely information to the Police will be rewarded heavily.
