Kanda Reading Club Crowned Champions Of MTN, Joy FM Reading Clubs Competition

Kanda Reading Club has won the second editions of the MTN, Joy FM Reading Clubs Competition after an interesting reading contest among other clubs in the capital.

Ablekuma Reading Club Came second, with Burma Camp and Osu taking the third and fourth place respectively.

For their prices, Kanda and Ablekuma were presented with a cash price of 5, 00 and 3, 00 respectively. There will also be a weekend stay at the Beige village and educational trip to the Bunso Arboretum forest reserve.

The MTN, Joy FM Reading Club is an initiative established to provide interventions that will encourage children between the ages of eight and 14 to read, and to enjoy the art of reading.

Speaking to the press after the competition, Mrs. Cynthia Lumor, Executive Director, MTN Foundation, said the competition over the years has improved the reading abilities of children and has afford them the confidence to speak publicly without any fear.

She stated that, the competition basically was to install reading habit among the youth so that they can read one or two books in a week to help them develop into great personalities for the country.

She urged all children in the country to take reading seriously because it is the only thing that will help them bring out the potentials in them.

The MTN, Joy FM Reading Club in initiative by MTN Ghana Foundation and Joy FM and it has directly imparted about 500 school children.
