Takoradi, Feb. 27, GNA - The people of Sekondi-Takoradi have received the State of the Nation Address, delivered by President John Mahama to Parliament, with mixed reaction.

Many of the people the GNA interviewed expressed little or no hope in seeing a transformed economy in the near future, others were of the view that things could improve should the people support the Government to prosecute its developmental agenda.

While some blamed the government for mishandling the economy, others put the blame for the economic challenges on individual misdeeds that had they believed had culminated to hurt the nation.

Mr. James Kweku Darku, lauded the Government for the various policy interventions, aimed at addressing the economic problems, and encouraged it to do more in the Energy Sector to save industries and businesses.

He said when productivity declines, the national economy would suffer and called for pragmatic solutions through scientific innovations to solve the energy crisis.

Madam Yaba, for part, said, 'God is my Sufficiency and it is only with the help of God that Ghana can break through.'

Madam Aba Yaa, a pawpaw seller, called on the Government and state institutions to eliminate corruption and its related tendencies and encouraged hard work and dedication to duty.

Ms. Ernestina Adjei, a restaurant operator, also called for the adoption of a positive attitude among Ghanaians towards growing the local economy.

Mr. Isaac Obosu, a staff of the Geological Survey Department, commended the Government but entreated it to improve upon working conditions in the public sector to maximize productivity.

The President announced various interventions to solve the problems regarding Health, Education, Social Protection, Energy, Roads, Infrastructure, Water, Corruption, and other national problems.
