No Child Is Daft, Every Child Is Potentially Bright—Matilda Amissah-Arthur

The Second Lady, Mrs. Matilda Amissah-Arthur, has stated that there is no child who is daft and that every child is potentially bright, so we should encourage them as teachers and guardians in order to bring the best out of them.

The Wife of the Vice President made the statement when she Presented library books and ten set of lab tops each to the two schools in the Keta Municipality in the Volta region namely Abor R/C Basic school and Kedzi AME Zion Schools.

The donation is in line with her commitment to improve healthcare delivery, especially, for children across the country.

Mrs. Matilda Amissah Arthur said as a matter of urgency urged the teachers in the two schools to avoid absenteeism and also do effective monitoring and supervision, so that they can have time for the children and teach them well because they are our future leaders.

She said some years agoSchools in the Volta region used to compete with the so called class a schools in the country, so the need for them pick up and excel in their academic performance,

Donating the books and computers, the Second Lady called on the teachers and pupils to make good use of the books by reading as a learning tool to aid the children and that the computers and books that she was donating were for the kids and not for the teachers, so called on theauthorities to put them in the computer labs for the student to make maximum use of it.

Mrs. Amissah Arthur said it was a shame to know from statistics available to her which indicatesthat results in the Keta municipality, thus the SSCE and BECE were not encouraging, so tasked the MP for the area to help the constituency in that direction, she also urged both the teachers and pupils to take their educational issues very serious, so as to bring back the municipality to its good status in the area of excellent academic performance.

She also took time to Visit the Keta Municipal hospital where she interacted with some of the children on admission and gave them school bags, pencils, books, toys, and wished them speedy recovery.

Mrs. Amissah-Arthur commended the hospital and staff for their dedication to provide healthcare to the people and for managing childhood illnesses. Mrs. Matilda Amissah Arthur said her aim is to see that children are treated with care because they are of topmost priority to their parents.

"Children are the future leaders and I am someone who believes in growing with the young generation in the area of health care delivery," she said.

She encouraged the doctors, nurses and the other staff to do more to ensure quality healthcare for children. She also presented the staff of the hospital with assorted fruits and underlined the importance of offering support to institutions like hospitals.

Present at the brief but impressive ceremony were the Volta regional Minister Hon Helen Ntoso, MP for Keta Hon Richared Quarshiegah,and Dr. Asare Bediako, Medical Superintendent of the Keta Government.
