Judicial Service Staffs Cautioned Against Corruption - To Protect Integrity

Workers of the judicial of Ghana have been charged to desist from excessive bribery bounding the judicial service system in other help protect the image and integrity of the judges which will help build confidence seeking in the publics eye.

Justice C.J Honyenuga, justice of the court of appeal issued this signal when speaking on behalf of the Honourable Lady chief Justice during the chief justice forum ( staff edition) for staff in Ashanti Bronf ahafo region held in Kumasi.

The forum high the theme; "Integrity: The key to effective justice delivery". The forum was the platform for the judicial and other stakeholders within the Justice delivery system to discuss pertinent issues that lead to good, quality Justice for our country men and women, who access the court on daily basis.

Speaking at the forum, Justice Honyeduga said that, "we have every cause to worry as a nation, as corruption appears to pervade every corridor's of our national lives. The truth is that slowly but steadily this cajker is threatening the very fabric of our society".

He said, corruption has been identified as a main obstacle to Peace, stability, sustainable development, democracy and human rights. According to him, judicial corruption is the worst form of corruption. "An unreliable judicial undermines the rule of law, peace and stability and sustainable national development".

"Judiciary is the lead and key institution for fighting corruption, crimes of every kind, impunity, restoring lost right and liberties, and indeed the institution that fights all the indignities that erode the Gid given rights of human beings", adding that when all other protection fail, it is the judiciary that should provide solace, comfort and hope for all individuals.

The alarming findings from Afro barometer report released in December 2014 state that large majorities of Ghanaian perceive corruption among some public corruption rated Judges and magistrates 85%. Commenting on this he said that, "thii perception hurts the entire image of the Institution, and not only members of the bench, therefore each one of us has a responsibility to work to salvage the image of this great institution".

He said, Posterity will not forgive the judiciary if they allow the oittle gains of today to erode the trust reposed in the third arm of state by the good people of thii great country.

He charged justice to remove the log in their own eyes before removing the speck in another persons eye. " we have no moral right to question the integrity of others if we cannot stand up to be counted as people with high moral values l". He stated.
