Commercial drivers at Kaneshie in the Greater Accra region are preparing to hit the street soon to register their protest against the priority cars owned and operated by the GPRTU national chairman, Alhaji Yaw Manu at the station.

Currently, the chairman of the GPRTU is running six (6) Yutong buses for commercial purposes on priority basis at the kaneshie station.

Speaking to the secretary of the kaneshie lorry terminal, who refused to mention his name to this reporter, he said “The national chairman runs all his Yutong buses on priority basis, which is something he has being doing for long so doubt drivers are complaining.

According to the drivers, who are members all members of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU), “The situation here is very bad, you come to work for the whole week and you drive passengers to a destination for only once a week, the chairman's Yutong buses have to load before any other will be loaded and it done irrespective of the time the chairman's buses arrive at the station”.

The leader of the drivers lamented that “We are suffering here but you cannot complain else you sanctioned or sacked from the station.

The drivers further said plans for the demonstration are far in advance. They noted that Alhaji Yaw Manu has made life very difficult for them and their family.

“We are drafting a proposal to be given to the police for permission before hitting the streets to stop Alhaji Manu's Yutong buses from lading on priority” the drivers revealed.
