Residents of Sokoban Ampabame near Kumasi were thrown into a state of shock Tuesday afternoon following news that a jealous man had shot his girlfriend dead.

The suspect, only identified as Frimpong, a 40-year-old hunter, was incensed about Yaa Mansah's decision to quit the relationship and allegedly killed her in that brutal manner.

Frimpong, said to be wielding a locally manufactured gun, reportedly shot Yaa Mansah, 35, in the throat and the head at close range at about 3:00 pm when the deceased and her friend were returning home from the farm with firewood.

The jealous man, after committing the heinous crime, purportedly took to his heels, possibly to avert being arrested by the law enforcement agents.

He had still not been arrested as at press time yesterday and a search had been mounted on him.

Okyeremaba of Sikka FM who claimed he was at the scene, told this paper that Yaa Mansah has three children from a previous marriage and lives with Frimpong in her rented room at Sokoban Krofrom.

He said the relationship had suffered some problems lately and so Yaa Mansah had made up her mind to break it but Frimpong was not happy about her plans.

Okyeremaba noted that Yaa Mansah, who was determined to leave the relationship, had even ordered Frimpong to leave her room – an order which seemed to have heightened his anger.

On Tuesday at about 3:00 pm, Yaa Mansah, with another lady, was returning home after fetching firewood at Sokoban Ampabame when angry-looking Frimpong confronted them with a gun.

The other lady reportedly took to her heels and heard gun shots; and by the time she returned to the scene, Yaa Mansah was lying in a pool of blood but Frimpong had vanished into thin air.

The sound of the gun attracted a sizeable number of people to the scene but Frimpong had by then vanished.

The shocking incident was immediately reported to the police who took the lifeless body of Mansah to the morgue for autopsy and immediately started investigations into the gruesome murder.

Angered residents of Sokoban Krofrom and Sokoban Ampabame then mounted a wild search for Frimpong.
