Ghacem Limited has handed over 1000 bags of cement worth Gh¢30,000 to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA) as its support for the 30th edition of the National Farmers Day celebration

Ghacem Officials from the Strategy and Corporate Affairs Department led by the Director, Dr. George Dawson-Ahmoah, presented the donation which was received on behalf of the Ministry and the National Farmers Day Organizing Committee by the Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development, Ms. Sherry Ayittey

Also present at the ceremony were the Director of Finance and Administration at MOFA, Mr. Benjamin Kofi Gyasi and the Director of Crop Services, Mr. Emmanuel Krobea Asante

Handing over the cement bags, Dr. George Dawson-Ahmoah touted that Ghacem takes pride in supporting the Farmers Day celebration annually since it believes such effort has the impetus to propel productivity in the Agricultural sector for economic development

He observed the theme for this year: 'Eat what you grow' was appropriate and timely stressing that all hands should be on deck to reduce the over reliance on food importation.

“Time is due for Ghanaians to cultivate the habit of patronizing made in Ghana goods and products to build a strong economy. As the nation builder we will do our part by assisting in the construction of farm houses and post-harvest storage facilities for farmers to reduce post-harvest losses through this annual benevolence, he said

Ms. Sherry Ayittey on behalf of the MOFA, thanked Ghacem and other individuals and Corporate Organizations who have already donated for the gesture and called for more support to make this year's celebration a success

The National Farmers Day celebration is marked annually on the first Friday of December to honour gallant farmers and Fishermen in the country

This year's event would be marked on December 5 at Sefwi Wiawso in the Western Region.
