The Komla Dumor Memorial Foundation, a foundation launched in honour of late ace Joy FM and BBC broadcaster Komla Dumor launched its official website on Thursday.

The website, www.komladumorfoundation.org, will be used to enhance and promote the values of the late broadcaster whose work touched the lives millions across the world.

Creator of the website, Mr. Kwei Quaye-Foli, explaining the contents of the website at the launch at the Ghana International Press Centre said it contains a photo and video gallery, code of ethics and contacts of the foundation, a blog, and an event calendar to give visitors up-to-speed information of the foundation.

Speaking at the launch, Dzifa Abla Gomashie, Deputy Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, who is also a board member of the foundation, challenged Ghanaian journalists to strive to use their professional training to the benefit of society.

According to her, “Komla's passion was investigative journalism, he investigated a lot of things. Through him, issues that we would not have ordinarily heard about, we heard about them. And we heard about them in a fair and balanced way.”

She added that, “We heard about all the sides. We heard about the views of other people, never about what he thought about it; never did he allow what he thought to override what the truth was.”

Mrs Mary Chinery-Hesse, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the foundation officially launched the website.

She also described the late Komla Dumor, who started his career at Joy FM, as the man of the people and the website reflects the ideals he stood for.

“The website is an important tool in their endeavour to promote the principles of Komla Dumor and I urge the media to use the website to help tell the African story as Komla Dumor did,” Mrs Chinery-Hesse said.
