The University of Professional Studies (UPSA), on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 inaugurated a new leadership center, “ Drolor Center for Strategic Leadership”, to train the younger generation on strategic leadership for the development of the continent, Africa.

The Drolor Center for Strategic Leadership aims at building the capacity of existing leaders in politics, business, academia and religion, as well as grooming the next generation of ethical leaders with the requisite social capital, leadership skills and competences for partnerships and economic development of the continent.

The center will be a center of Excellence for high level executive leadership development in Africa for Africa's accelerated development.

It will also nurture a global community of leaders who are willing to make a difference with their presence by creating and delivering values that go beyond their time.

Launching the center at the school premises in Accra, the Chancellor of UPSA, DrolorBossoAdamtey, saidthat Africa will be able to drive its own development agenda if the continent invest in the youth to believe in themselves that it is possible here.

He averred that Africa has a lot of great potentials with a lot of resources but lack of proper leadership is drawing us back.

He indicated that,consideringthe enormous resources of Africa, what Africa needs now is not handout but genuine partnership to bring accelerated development that will be in the interest of the people.

The Chancellor suggested that for Africa to make any meaningful contribution to the world, the outmoded way of doing things must stop and embrace the modern way of dealing with issues for development.

He said theDrolor Center for Strategic Leadership will groom and invest in the youth to be an independent minded people to embrace change and drive the development agenda of the continent.

Present at the inauguration were Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Asante, Chairman, National peace Council, Prof. Agyemang Badu Akosa, Ambassador Ademola Oluseyi Onafowokan, Nigerian High Commissioner, politicians and civil society groups.
