The four-month-old baby girl from Tamale who was born without an anus has undergone surgery to correct her abnormality.

Muhibatu's sad story came to public attention last month following a Joy News report on her condition and the inability of her peasant farmer parents to raise the seven thousand Ghana cedis required for her surgery.

Bel Aqua Mineral Water paid the entire cost of the surgery while other public spirited individuals donated additional amounts for her upkeep.

Muhibatu Suleimana underwent successful anal reconstructive surgery at the Komfo Anokye Hospital this week and is recovering.

A family representative, Alhassan Abdul-Rafiu, picked two cheques for 7, 000 cedis and 1,000 cedis, respectively, for the cost of operation and the girl's upkeep at Multimedia Group's Kumasi Office.

Mr. Abdul-Rafiu told Luv News the family owes the child's survival to the timely intervention of all who helped raise the money.
