President John Mahama says despite the increases in prices of petroleum over the past months, Ghana apart from Nigeria still has one of the lowest prices in petrol across the West Africa Sub-Region.

He says government could not afford to spend more on subsidies for petroleum products. According to President Mahama, increasing the cost of fuel is not something he personally or any member of his government enjoys but bold and courageous decisions were needed to save the country and help the transformation agenda which is aimed at transforming Ghana and improving upon the quality of life of Ghanaians.

The president was responding to questions, Sunday on Ghana's economy during a media encounter with the Ghanaian media houses at the Ghana High Commission, in UK.

The forum which was organised by the Ghanaian mission in the UK was to afford the Ghanaian media the opportunity to interact with the president and get first hand information on the state of the Ghanaian economy.
