Stanbic Bank Ghana has upgraded its operating system to totally simplify processes for the mutual benefit of the bank and its customers.

For customers, the system brings enhanced customer experience, as Stanbic staff now have access to a system that makes it easier to serve customers and do their jobs.

It will bring about a reduction in the time for processing of documents, create a single view of the customer and eliminate duplication of data to the benefit of the client.

Alhassan Andani, Chief Executive of Stanbic Ghana, speaking about the system's upgrade said, 'With the customer as our most important stakeholder, our aim at Stanbic Bank has always been to deliver world-class financial services. This upgrade is the latest on the journey to excellence and the transformation of banking in Ghana.'

Being a member of Africa's largest banking group, Standard Bank, with affiliates in countries around the world, customers now have access to services of the unified group at the touch of a button as the upgrade will move all of Standard Bank's ROA operations onto the same platform.

Customers will be issued new account numbers which will be used concurrently with the old numbers for a period of 12 months, thereafter the old number ceases to be operational.

Current stock of cheques reflecting the old account numbers will remain valid till they run out. Thereafter new cheque books will only display the new account numbers.

The internet banking platform of the bank, for example, has been given a new look which is more user friendly and interactive.

The Group wide programme was initiated in 2008 to replace the multiple core banking systems deployed across Standard Bank Group's African footprint with a single, standardised solution.

Standard Bank Group had total assets of R1 694 billion (about USD162 billion) at 31 December 2013, while its market capitalisation was R209.4 billion (about USD20 billion).

The group has direct, on-the-ground representation in 20 African countries. Standard Bank Group has almost 560 branches and 1223 ATMs in Africa, making it one of the largest banking networks on the continent. It provides global connections backed by deep insights into the countries where it operates.

In Ghana, it provides the full spectrum of financial services.
