As part of efforts to scale up mobile financial services, particularly in the informal sector, mobile network operator, Tigo is training over 2,000 agents in its award-winning mobile money service, Tigo Cash.

The training, which is being carried out in 19 towns and cities across the country is aimed at providing the agents with in-depth knowledge and understanding of the Tigo Cash processes.

They are also going through various customer care strategies to ensure they meet and exceed customer expectations.

Several of the agents also registered for the Tigo Cash Agent Investment Fund – a facility that enables the agents to expand their business.

Head of Corporate Communications at Tigo, Gifty Bingley, says: “It is refreshing to see women fairly represented among our agents. Just like the men, they have been a part of the success story of Tigo Cash, reaching out to those in the informal sector.

“We look forward to having many more female agents and supporting them with financial literacy training and the Tigo Cash Agent Investment Fund to enable them engage within the mobile retail channels and grow their business.

Agents who excelled within the year will be acknowledged for their outstanding contributions.
