By Isaac Kofi Dzokpo

The Communications Director of Javsalynn Foundation Mr. Gideon Aryeequaye has frowned upon the manner in which students are failing in the Basic Education and Senior Secondary School Certificates Council Examinations in the country.

This, he said,is the major contributing factor to the loss of human resource in the country.

Mr Aryeequaye made this remark when Jabsalynn Foundation was presenting a programme on: “The Youth, Tertiary Education and National Development” in Accra.

He noted that the development of every nation broadly depends on the resourcefulness of its youth; that is the knowledge and skills they would acquired through the tertiary education level. This, he said, Javsalynn Foundation has been observing regretfully the failures of the Basic Education and the Senior Secondary School Certificates Examinations adding that their failure has prevented them from entering the tertiary schools.

He said these students throughout the years, in either the Junior or Senior High School were taking their terminal examinations under strict supervision and as the result of fear and the unfavourable conditions they were not able to deliver as expected.

He said Javsalynn Foundation is of the opinion that, students who could not come out with flying colours have the talent and could deliver to expectation if the second chance is been giving to them.

“This is the reason why we are giving them another opportunity by providing them with an academic bridge through our overseas tertiary education programmes from which they could effectively spring to reach their potential, achieve academic excellence , develop their values and acquire the necessary expertise to become resourceful" he explained.

More so , he added that the foundation is more than determined to place over two hundred thousand (200, 000) candidates including the 2014 West African Examinations Council's victims in overseas tertiary institutions in 2015.

According to him Javsalynn Foundation is a non - governmental organization instituted to award scholarship to Ghanaian students who want to pursue undergraduate and post graduate studies abroad. It was incorporated with the Registrar General and Certified to commence business from January 13, 2000.

The Coordinator for the National Youth Authority Mr. Ras Mubarak commended Javsalynn Foundation for the tremendous role they are playing in the development of the youth in the country. However, he tasked the stakeholders in educational sector to endeavour to develop national curricula that would promote quality education which will directly link to the job market.

He also advised students to pursue courses in science and Technology because vast job opportunities exist in that field on the job market. Adding that, the two subjects play crucial roles in solving economic, social and environmental problems that confront a nation.
