My Npp Brethren

Its been a long time i added my voice to hot political issues like the ones currently bedevilling the main opposition New Patriotic Party due to the emotional convictions I have personally harboured. It is no secret that in politics some people carry out all party activities while others languish or hibernate only to re-surface when the party is in power and aptly be accorded recognition by the president and be awarded ambassadorial as well as ministerial positions at the expense of those who laboured and endured the brunt of political backlash such as beatings, destruction of properties and some times killings.

Does it really matter who becomes the flagbearer of a party made up of people of the same ideology? Do we have any sinister agenda to milk the state or just to serve mother Ghana? What is wrong if even Asamoah Boateng becomes the flagbearer of the NPP? A winnable flagbearer should be one who can unite all of us towards a common goal. When former president Kuffour won the elections in year 2000 immediately all came on board, Nana, Allan, Agyapong, and the rest were all made ministers of state.

Even if one was made the DCE/MCE to serve mother Ghana does it really make any difference? My brothers and sisters if you don't have proverbially any spur to prick the sides of your intent as a flagbearer ( ie to steal state funds, dubious deals, plunging the state into anarchy, corruption and all the evils) why do you or your supporters wreak havoc in the form of vituperations, accusations and counter accusations on a daily basis? Is there any need for that?

Dr. Kwagyir Aggrey of blessed memory once wrote: 'you can play music on the white keys and you can play music on the black keys but for harmony use both the white and black keys'. Taking a cue from the late Dr. Aggrey everybody is needed on board to be able to rest power from the rulling NDC come 2016. Therefor why all this mud

slinging in the name of flagbearership race?

Another phenomenon which is a salient cause of party rectitude is when there is a feeling of 'touch one, touch all'

and being recognised as a member even if there is no material reward.

In line with the above, my appeal to all NPP supporters and more especially those in the diaspora is to be careful with the language they use when referring to our brothers and sisters in the three northern regions. For the NPP needs their votes to win power.

Northerners and for that matter the three northern regions are behavior wise, like the Ewes, insult them they don't forget and might not forgive. The Newtonian first law comes handy as an illustration here. To every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. An aggrieved person(s) translates his grief in the pattern of his/her votes. So what is this thing that when a single or group of people with northern extraction misbehaves you insult all?

Lets allow delegates to choose our flagbearer for us as stipulated by our party's constitution. How interesting the procedure is! Remember we are ONE. We also have all the men and the technocrats. Nana Addo, Allan Kyeremanteng, Mahamudu Bawumia, Gyan Baffour, Kofi k. Apraku, Mensah Kye Bonsu, Maxwell Kofi Juma, Kwame Okoampa, otiko jaba, Dominic Nitiwul etc. Oh what a party!!!

The only tumor I can see plaguing the party now is not the impending flagbearer contest but members whose actions and inactions seems to annihilate the NPP as a political entity. The piffle some members write and say on a daily base has succeeded in creating an ineradicable fear for some party functionaries and the party itself. I am told an entity can sue and be sued, it is therefore an opportune time for the top hierarchy of the party to revise its notes and start suing those numbskulls and poltroons who make derogatory and denigrating comments and write-ups to drag the NPP into ridicule.

In more plain language, the NPP as a political party can drug operatives like Arthur Kennedy to court to serve as a deterrent to others who by their actions and inactions might want to drag the party as an entity to opprobrium.
