Mr. Samuel Sarpong, Ashanti Regional Minister, has advised students in the country to eschew all forms of social vices which were gaining root among students these days.

Mr. Samuel Sarpong, made the advice at Achinakrom on Tuesday, when he joined Mr. Kwaku Afrifa Yamoh Ponko, Ejisu Juaben Municipal Chief Executive and Mr. Sarfo Kantankah, Ashanti Regional Director of Education visited some schools in the Ejisu Juaben Municipality to welcome the class One pupils into the mainstream education system.

The regional minister said that the best way for pupils and students to become successfully in their education was to eschew all acts that promote social vices.

He was not happy about manner and way social vices such as smoking, stealing, truancy, insults, gambling and absenteeism from school and attacks on teachers were increasing in the country.

Mr. Sarpong, advised parents to be more responsible to the welfare of their wards to complement the government efforts to provide quality education to Ghanaian children.

He said that government was determined to make education attractive to school going age children in the country.

He presented school uniforms, exercise books, crayons, pencils, biscuits and some toffees to the class one pupils who were admitted into the schools for the first time.

Schools the team visited were Sunsuanso M/A Primary School, Achinakrom M/A Primay School and Krapah M/A Primary School.

Mr. Kwaku Afrifa Yamoah Ponko, commended the teachers in the schools they visited for their dedication to duty and hardworking to help improve the level of education in the municipality and pledged that the assembly would continue to support education in the area.
