Global electronic giants, Microsoft Corporation has partnered local Non-Governmental Organization, Street Children Empowerment Foundation (SCEF) to provide back to school materials for the needy children at James Town in Accra.

The items were presented to the children at a short ceremony held at the premises of the NGO at Palladium at Jams Town.

The children received text books, school uniforms, shoes, bags and pens PE kits.

The program which formed part of the company's corporate social responsibility, coincided with Microsoft's annual Back to School marketing Season in which back to school supplies are given to the needy school children in deprived communities across the globe.

Other partners in the program are Elburg Global and Tripl C. Ghana Limited.

According to the Microsoft Devices and Services Marketing Manager for Ghana, Moses Acquah,  Microsoft is set to roll out a strategic plan to empower the NGO to reach out to other parts of the country to benefit many more needy children.

He said Microsoft has a Citizenship Support program in which free technology services are given to NGOS that include free licenses of its technologies to enable them use the company's technology to teach the children free of charge.

The donation is to enable the needy children to go back to school without putting any burden on their parents.
