Javadekar Promises To Speed Up CBI Probe Into Rhino Poaching In Kaziranga National Park

Guwahati, September 5: Union Minister of State for Environment and Forest Prakash Javadekar had worried on the rampant one horned rhino killings in Assam's Kaziranga National Park (KNP).

The Union minister on Friday had assured to speed up the CBI probe into the poaching of one-horned rhinos.

During his two-day visit to Assam, Javadekar said that, he is very concerned on the rhino killings in the world heritage site.

“I am going to find out what is the status of CBI probe in the rhino poaching incidents and if there is no progress, I will meet Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, seeking their intervention,” interacting with local people and various organizations at Kaziranga the Union Minister of State said.

Javadekar also worried on the encroachment in Kaziranga National Park.

Along with Assam State Forest Minister Rockybul Hussain and other top officials of forest department, Javadekar had discussed on the various issues.

Earlier, the Union Minister of State for Environment and Forest had discussed with organizations and forest officials for the issues of protect wild animals, encroachment in forest land at BSF camp in Rani, outskirts of Guwahati after arrived at Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International airport, where state forest minister and BJP MP Ramen Deka welcomed him.

Javadekar will discuss with another meeting with forest officials of Assam in Guwahati on September 6.

A total of 22 one horned rhinos were poached in Kaziranga National Park in this year so far.
