Inchaban, Sept. 2, GNA - Zoomlion Ghana Limited, a waste management company is undertaking fumigation exercise on dumping sites, drains and public places of convenience to control the spread of communicable diseases particularly cholera in the Western Region.
Mr. Ernest Osei Bonsu, Vector Control Officer of the Company, told the GNA that the residual spraying had become very necessary in the wake of the Cholera outbreak.
He said the exercise would be replicated every three months to ensure that vectors such as houseflies, mosquitoes and cockroaches were prevented from spreading diseases to households.
Mr. Osei Bonsu said the company was also working at providing every household with refuse containers to cater for the proper disposal of waste generated at household level before the collectors came in for it.
He entreated individuals and companies to dump refuse in designated areas rather than in gutters and drains.
