Kevin-Prince Boateng has accused Ghana fans of labeling him 'Boko Haram' and says he has no regrets over letting Ghana down at the 2014 World Cup.

The 27-year-old is still speaking about his sacking from the Ghana camp in Brazil during the 2014 World Cup and his latest interview has claimed Ghana fans labelled him a boko haram and he holds no regrets over his behaviour.

“I'm happy I let down the people of Ghana at the world cup. Can you imagine some even called me Boko Haram? Really Boko Haram? It was always my dream to play at the world cup, the door with Germany was closed,” he claimed.

The Schalke 04 midfielder along with AC Milan's Sulley Muntari were axed from the camp ahead of the FIFA World Cup game with Portugal for various acts of violence.

Boateng was talked out of international retirement to play for Ghana at the World Cup. However his performance in the games he featured for the West Africans left many home fans disappointed.

Yet he claims the Black Stars needed him not the other way round.

Ghana needed me badly, so I availed myself only for the fans to under-appreciate my contributions to the team. For that, I am very happy, some think I let down the country. Mark my words, I will do it again when I am called back into the team,” he added.
