AFOKO Kwabena Should Be Made To Freely Work; We Voted For Changes At The NPP Headquarters In Tamale
22.08.2014 LISTEN

I want to be honest and emphatic that our party is becoming unbecoming by the strange conduct of some members. Our current leaders were genuinely and fairly elected by delegates on the same platform alongside other competitors on the April 12 congress to run the affairs of the party with their strategy to fulfill the promise they gave us which is political power for NPP in 2016.

People have failed to understand that they are no more in the driving seat of the party and the earlier they understand the better for them and the party.

It would be very surprising on the part of any individual who thinks the total overhauling that took place in Tamale conference would not affect the headquarters. We were not comfortable with the leadership style at the Party headquarters thus our massive vote for Chairman and General Secretary.

If they cannot effect changes at the National Headquarters, then why are they our leaders? Opare Hammond and Perry Okudzeto openly campaigned against Mr. Afoko and Kwabena Agyepong because they say they could not work with them so why are they fighting to stay on when we have selected new Officers?

Attacking our leaders with the reason that one is not happy with their decisions is not and can never be the philosophy of our party.

There is a proverb in Dagbani that "baa zugu yi faai, baa zaa n faai maa". Literally means; if you get hold to a wild dog and you make a mistake to release the head, the whole head would be released automatic.

If you were appointed by executives that delegates lost confidence in and voted them out, how on earth can you be expecting to stay in office especially when the new executives promise us New Plan for Power. This is common sense.

The advice to Mr. Opare Hammond and Mr. Perry Okudjeto is that they should know they have predecessors in the persons of Mr. Antwi Adjei and co. and they need no councilor to tell them there would surely be people who would succeed them.

If a question is simply asked, per our party structure who is the general secretary answerable to? Is it the chairman? If yes, does the chairman have problem with his actions? Absolutely no. So why all these qualms? Is it a calculated attempt by some people to destroy our own party because some particular individuals are now in the driving seat?

I call on all colleague delegates to stand up and defend the decision we made on April 12 in Tamale before our decision rendered useless and meaningless in the party.

It is good we stop worshiping individuals in the party and rather commit ourselves to the progress of the New Patriotic Party. The party has a future and we represent the future. The gross disrespect for our leaders must stop and stop now.

Thank you.

Signed
Haruna Abdul Rashid
