STOP SABOTAGING PAUL AFOKO AND KWABENA AGYAPONG
19.08.2014 LISTEN

With extreme patriotic fervor, we write to condemn the current evil in the party as we invite all well-meanings patriots to help us nip it to bud. We are appalled and deeply disturbed about the way and manner our party is being ridiculed on radio and other media platforms.

In every democratic setup there is likely to be disagreements in the approach and handling of issues, but this evil, if only handled well deepens democracy in the organization. But the vitriol and hatred lashed out against our Chairman and General Secretary is very disturbing and maddening. Things are getting out of hand to the level that some of us who have the interest of the party at heart find it very difficult to bear.

It is instructive to note that Messrs Afoko and Agyepong have never ever known peace ever since they assume their respective positions all because these saboteurs perceive our Chairman and General Secretary to be anti-Akufo Addo. It is based on this motivation that they seek to undermine them.

It is also becoming increasingly and clearly obvious that some leading members are bent and poised on making our current Chairman and General Secretary unpopular after the debacle of their evil agenda against them prior to and during the National Delegates Congress at Tamale. We all can recall the frustrations the Chairman had to go through before earning the chance to contest. The obstacles he had to overcome are enormous. We have neither forgotten of the use of party resources, particular at the Headquarters to defame his hard-won reputation.

Some of us thought, and even expected that as a party, we would have given these leaders the needed support as we build a formidable team, front and united party to wrestle power from the incompetent NDC, but on the contrary, these saboteurs have refused to abandon their evil agenda but rather advance it till the failure of our leaders are realized. They have decided to resist any single move by the leadership to offer a fair playing ground for the flag bearership contest. Their motive is to undermine them since their preferred candidates didn't win and they are not comfortable coming into terms with the fact that these two gentlemen are the leaders, especially as they will never kowtow to any agenda nor act bias in favor of any particular candidate.

Why would a leading member who is expected to know better run to the media to discuss sensitive internal issues? Why would pro-NPP newspapers like the Daily Guide practically run a commentary of a National Council meeting by putting out in the public domain issues, which are supposed to be confidential? For what purpose would a leading member leak [distorted] classified information to the media just to court hatred for these two leaders? Don't they know these actions undermine our party and our reputation in the country? Don't they know some of these unwarranted constant barrages weaken the strength of the party?
These saboteurs have no respect for authority and laid down guidelines in the party. We all witness how members of parliament who are supposed to adhere to sanctioned guidelines rather violate them with impunity.

These are the very things that we do to build unnecessary enmity, hostility, antagonism, animosity, rancor, antipathy and animus among leading members of our party which always succeed in breaking the rank and file of the party.

We hereby humbly ask the leadership of the party to get rid of persons at the party headquarters who are appendages to factions and personality cults within the party.

We will resist any form of personality cult in the party, and we believe the humble and gentle spirits of Danquah, Dombo and Busia will guide and protect us we save their tradition and legacy from the evil machinations of these saboteurs.

We cannot afford to be in opposition for another four years. We cannot afford to endure this economic hardship beyond 2016. We would not have enough equanimity to undergo it, and for that matter would not allow the personal agenda of any particular individual hamper our chances.

We would advise them to abandon any ill-motive against the persons of Afoko and KAA since the party would suffer more though it may not their prime target. Long live NPP!

Long live Ghana!!

Long live NPP!
Long live Ghana!!
