21 Narcotics Dealers Busted In WR

The Western regional Police command has arrested 21 persons suspected to be dealing in narcotics in the northern part of the region.

Out of the 21 suspects, seven were women, and the items retrieved from them included 213 wrappers of brownish substance suspected to be cocaine.

Other items retrieved were 467 wrappers of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, 19 compressed parcels also believed to be Indian hemp, and quantities of seeds suspected to be narcotic drugs.

Others included gallons of alcohol laced with dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, and some paraphernalia believed to be used in their alleged narcotic business.

Briefing journalists in Sekondi as to how the suspected drug dealers were arrested, DCOP Alex Quainoo, Western Regional Police Commander, noted that the suspects were arrested on August 5, 2014.

He indicated that the Drug Law Enforcement Unit of the Regional Command, led by the regional commander, stormed certain areas of the northern part of the region to clamp down on narcotic peddlers and other suspected criminals.

He pointed out that the operation took place at Enchi, yanamen and Dadieso, all in the region, and that five of the suspects were arrested at yankamem, seven at Dadieso while the other nine suspects were arrested at Enchi.

He gave their names as Juliet Afful, 28, Evans Ennin, 17, Kweku Nyamekye, 29, Kwame Arsah, 28, Kofi Azumah, 19, Evalis Boateng, 20, Kwabena Kyen, 21, yaw Opoku, 31, Kofi Bekoe, 20, Victoria Nunoo, 45 and Afua Mansah, 38.

The rest were Marian Entah, 56, Joana Adu, 29, Oscar Brentu, 44, Eric Tannor, 38, Keneddy Attah, 38, Daniel Nameh, 28, Olivia Abekah, 21, Ishmael Amoako, 19 and Hannah Samaoh, 56.
