LATEX FOAM Rubber Products Limited has equipped the Visibility Unit of the Ashanti Regional Police Command with an assortment of tools to help them combat crime.
The items presented included 38 nicely- made metal tents for all the police visibility points in the region, 40 student mattresses and 30 plastic chairs. The donation was aimed at helping the police visibility unit in their daily operations.
Latex Foam said it wanted police officers who went on duty to any of the 38 visibility points to be well sheltered so that they could deliver effectively to help maintain law and order in the region.
The items were presented by Walid Chadwary, the Kumasi Branch Manager, Latex Foam, and were received by DCOP Kofi Boakye, Ashanti Regional Police Commander, at a colorful function.
Gloria Poku, Public Relations Officer (PRO), Latex Foam, Kumasi Office, said the largesse formed part of the company's corporate social responsibility.
She said Latex Foam had decided to partner the police in the region to combat crime in order for the people to go about their activities in peace.
Gloria Poku said the donation by her company was in response to a passionate appeal made to Latex Foam by the police visibility unit, pledging Latex Foam's willingness to assist the police to deliver
always.
DCOP Kofi Boakye commended Latex Foam for always coming to the aid of the police, stressing that the items presented would go a long way to help the police visibility unit to improve on their work.
He charged policemen in the region to go the extra mile to help maintain law and order always, saying, the effective delivery of the police would help attract public support for them.
DCOP Boakye announced that henceforth policemen who went on visibility and motor traffic duties were banned from using mobile phones during working hours, warning that offenders would be dealt with.
