Israeli Ambassador Tours MASHAV Educational Projects In Tamale

Accra, Ghana, 24th July, 2014 - Israeli Ambassador to Ghana, H.E Sharon Bar-li has paid a working visit to Tamale, during which she met with the Metropolitan Chief Executive of Tamale, Hon. Hanan Abdul-Rahman Gundadow and Tamale Municipal Assembly, and visited fourkindergarten schools participating in the Early Childhood Development(ECD) programme undertaken in Tamale by MASHAV, Israel's Agency for International Development Cooperation.

30 kindergarten teachers and head teachers last month attended two weeks training on learning through play, with MASHAV's specialist. This was the third training in Tamale, which has joined, about a year ago, in theongoing Israeli Early Childhood Education project in Kumasi and Accra.MASHAV's Early Childhood Development Education (ECD) programme is a collaborative effort between Israel's Development Agency, the Ghana Education Service, the Metropolitan Assemblies of Tamale, Accra and Kumasi.

The Israeli Ambassador visited theQueen Elizabeth, Lamashegu, Saint Peter's and Danin-Sheli kindergarten schools respectively where she, watched lessons being taught according to the training and interacted with the Headteachers and some of the children.

During the Ambassador's meeting with Tamale Metropolitan Assembly Chief Director and his Assembly members, Hon.Hanan Abdul-Rahman Gundadow expressed his appreciation to MASHAV and the State of Israel for their ongoing contribution to the development of Tamale, pledged the Embassy's continued support and commitment to the ECD programme in Tamale and called for Israeli businessmen to come and invest in Tamale.

Ambassador Bar-li also met with GES Director of Education in Tamale, Alhaji Mohammed Abdul-Rahman Saani with whomshe discussed how to deepen and further the collaboration between MASHAV and the Tamale office of the GES, for the success of the program, noting that the recently signed Memorandum of Cooperation between MASHAV and the GES, will establish a stronger framework for the future of the program in Ghana.
