The NDC EUROPE/USA/CANDA, on Saturday July 5th 2014 held their first largestDIASPORA conference in the cool remote City of Zurich, Switzerland. Enthusiastic members, patrons, friends, supporters, and National party executives from all over the globe converged in the historic City of Zurich to once again re-dedicate themselves to the party and strategize for a successful 2016 Presidential and Parliamentary elections in Ghana.

First and foremost discussed was about how to run a successful upcoming national congress slated for October 24th and 25th this year.

The conference brought together, NDC/USA/CANADA/ EUROPE branches across the globe to deliberate on ways to promote the party's agenda and to coordinate various action plans for operation 2016. The theme for the conference was "NDC /USA/CANADA/EUROPE, Building a dynamic, prosperous and Stable Democracy 2016".

This conference was part of the year's program line up of activities where various branch executives and their delegates converge to share notes on progress and make decision for the rest of the remaining calendar years.

Welcoming delegates and party officials from all DIASPORA, the host branch,Robert Myles (Interim Chairman, NDC Switzerland) and TeteKoblaAgbota (Chairman, NDC Norway) thanked all members for traveling to Zurich for this special meeting. Mr Myles requested the audience to observe a minutes' silence in memory of our late beloved Sir Paul Victor Obeng, HajiaAdissa Sally, Agnes Tiah and the mother of our Party General Secretary, Mr A. Nketia.

Mr Myles continued by saying 'I'm humbled by the number of members and supporters from far and near in attendance. 'He thanked the executive committee of NDC/USACANADA/EUROPE, for entrusting the preparation and organization of this important conference inSWITZERLAND. In conclusion, Mr Myles said, "even though we are one of the newest branches, we accepted the challenge to host all of you here in this historic city of Zurich."

The meeting discussed the following items; reviving the DIASPORAN Forum for Akotamasonians, the political and economic situation in Ghana; what role can the diaspora play, and lastly matters relating to the impending Congress. TeteKoblaAgbota, the moderator of the meeting called on NDC Chapters to organize their affairs properly. Some of the Chapters virtually exist in name only because the executives and members are not fulfilling their obligations to the party. Robert Myles admonished it is very pressing resolve personal squabbles, which are preventing elected Boards of Chapters and Branches in some European countries from being duly constituted. Following Mr. Myles said, we have to address issues and not the persons behind the issues. For him if we have to move forward as party and country, we have to focus on issues. We have to eschew adversary politics at both intra party and interparty levels. He said it was unfortunate the NPP did not participate in the just ended Economic Forum, and advised all and sundry put their shoulders unto the wheel to transform the Senchi Consensus to practical measures. We need to build consensus and the diaspora can help bring this dimension into Ghanaian politics.

Some other speakers were Ndc Chairman UK,Mr Kofi Kwakye,NdcSecreatray UK,Mr Sam Quaye, NDC Holland Chairman MrDodoo Tony Brwon,NDC Germany MrsEsther Grobe,NDC Italy, Comrade Osmann.

The chairman of NDC USA, Nii Armah Ashiboi in his welcome remarks thanked all delegates for coming. He thank his executives for doing the work for which they were elected and appealed to all branches present to work together to help increase their membership before the 2016 general elections in Ghana. He thank all invited guest from far and near for doing the work of the chapter by honoring the invitation to participate in this important conference. In closing, Nii Ashiboi promised to continue his efforts to bring all branches on board enhance the chances of the NDC to retain power in 2016.
