9 Perish At Kintampo

NINE PERSONS died in a gory accident that occurred on the Kintampo-Techiman Highway yesterday.

DAILY GUIDE further gathered that five others are in critical condition and have been admitted at the Accident and Emergency Centre at the Kintampo Municipal Hospital.

Those who sustained minor injuries have been treated and discharged.

Most of the victims, who were on board a 30-seater Sprinter Bus with registration number BA 1467- 14 from Bawku heading towards Sefwi Wiawso in the Western Region, were Junior High School (JHS) graduates who were on their way to the cocoa-growing area to seek greener pastures.

The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the morgue pending autopsy and identification by their relations.

Eyewitnesses told the paper that the driver of the Sprinter Bus attempted to overtake an articulated truck.

In an attempt to avoid collision with the on-coming car, the Sprinter Bus rammed the articulated truck and the vehicle somersaulted several times and landed in the ditch.
