Trappings Of Political Power Needs Unity!
30.06.2014 LISTEN

The events leading to our presidential primaries have really dented and brought divisions within the party and most Ghanaians now feel the party is not ready to take power from the NDC due to the happenings in the party. There is therefore the need for immediate attention.

The seemingly unending quarrels in our dear party with the latest being the claim by the former chairman of the Central Tongu constituency, David Hoezame, questioning the legality in the composition of the National Council will not have been taken to court, if there is peace, unity and understanding.

What we are doing is throwing punches at ourselves instead of directing it at our opponents. We are inflicting pain on our members and Ghanaians who are suffering from the bad governance of the Ndc government. Ghanaians are listening to all the nastiness that is coming out from some of our leading members, and they could say if you cannot manage your affairs, how can you manage the country?

It is our duty to put the government on its toes at a time when everything has virtually fallen apart in the economic lives of every Ghanaian. Fact is, the average Ghanaian is looking up to us to rescue them from the incompetent Ndc government which cannot govern, cannot lead, and cannot fight corruption because the Ndc and corruption are bed fellows. We have so many issues to take up with this government, so we need to come together as a united and a peaceful family to direct our energies and strategies to uproot the John Mahama non-performing government.

Don´t forget there was a near-bloody fight at the Asylum Down Headquarters of the party, when a scuffle between security guards appointed by the old executives and those allegedly appointed by the new executives attracted the attention of the police. The arrival of the police from the Nima Divisional Command prevented what could have been a bloody spectacle, as the old guards fiercely resisted an attempt by the new security guards to take over their duties at the party´s National Headquarters.

Instead of the in-fighting, the onus rest on us, especially the Chairman and his General Secretary, to let Ghanaians know that, we recognise the seriousness of the problem facing the country, and that the economy is in total shambles, that education is a disaster, health is getting worse because the National Health Insurance scheme is almost dead. Again, we shouldn't forget the problems with GETFund, NHIS, Capitation Fund, School Feeding Programme, among many others. Our call is that, if our leaders should resort to following due processes in whatever they do. This will bring trust and peace.

The ordinary Ghanaian is praying everyday that the Npp will come and help solve the problems confronting the country. Although the Ndc government has been hit with so many a political and economic problems, that would not guarantee an Npp victory if the party fails to put its house in order. We saw it in 2007, and again in 2011, and both had serious repercussions on the party.

Trappings of political power need unity and trust, not divisions. Some of our leaders must put their selfish interest down and think of the party and how to get power from the NDC.

Long Live NPP!
Long Live Ghana!!!
