A MOTOR rider and his passenger friend yesterday met their untimely death in a fatal accident at Teshie Bush Road Junction when their motorbike bumped into an articulator truck, adjacent the new GOIL Filling Station behind the military barracks, off the beach road.

The motor rider, who was fast speeding from Teshie, crashed into the articulator truck registered GT 8448 B, which was negotiating a curve from the Kpeshie Lagoon stretch onto the Teshie Rasta road around 12:30 pm.

The unregistered motorbike was broken into pieces.

The Kpeshie Divisional Motor Traffic and Transport Unit Commander, Superintendent Yvonne Sindy Osei, who narrated the incident to DAILY GUIDE, said when the motor rider got to the intersection where the truck was negotiating the curve, other motorists had stopped and were waiting for the truck to fully exit the road before advancing.

However, the motor rider (as is usual of them) meandered his way through the waiting vehicles to go past them. In the process, he had a confrontation with the rear tyres of the articulator truck, which knocked him down, killing the rider instantly.

'Even though the tyres did not crush them, they hit them and seriously wounded them,' an eyewitness said.

The rider died on the spot while the pillion rider was rushed to the La General Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

The two bodies have been deposited at the Police Hospital.

Information available to DAILY GUIDE indicates that a series of accidents had been recorded since the T-junction was created.

Another worry motorists have expressed is that the traffic lights at the intersection have not yet been activated, contributing to the frequent accidents.
