Akim Swedru (E/R), April 18, GNA The Akim Swedru Circuit Court in the Eastern Region, on Thursday imposed a two-year-jail term in hard labour, on Akim Oda based scrap dealer who stole a car radiator.
Mustapha Abubakari, 25, pleaded guilty to having in his possession a stolen property.
Police Inspector Richard Sabbah told the court that at about 2014 hours on April 1, the Akim Swedru Police Patrol Team intercepted a Hyundai Grace bus with Abubakari on board and that a search on the vehicle revealed a car radiator and some cables concealed in a fertilizer sack.
He said when the convict was confronted he admitted ownership of the items and told the police that he picked them from an abandoned sawmill at Akim Achiase.
Inspector Sallah said the police escorted Abubakari to the sawmill where it was detected that he stole the cables from a plant at Jowak Sawmill, but he could not tell where he stole the car radiator from.
