Man Arrested For Duping 2 Pastors

A 30-year-old man has been arrested by the Odorkor police for defrauding two pastors to the tune of GH¢    5,400 under the pretext of getting them cow legs.

The suspect, David Kofi Adjei, now in police custody, according to superintendent Abraham Acquaye, the Odorkor District Police Commander, allegedly asked pastors Emmanuel Ofori and Kyei Yao, all of Pentecostal Church at Olebu that he could get them some cow legs from Niger and ended up bolting with the money.

He was, however, arrested on April 8, 2014 by the pastors after several months of going into hiding.

Superintendent Acquaye who briefed DAILY GUIDE yesterday said the suspect was also a member of the church at Olebu.

On January 7, 2014, the suspect, Adjei told the men of God that he was into cow leg business which was lucrative.

'To further convince the two victims, the suspect told them that in Niger, the cow legs were very cheap and so he goes there to purchase it and later transport it to Ghana for sale.'

The suspect then demanded a cash amount of GH¢3,800 from pastor Ofori for the business.

While the first victim was anxiously waiting for the consignment, the suspect demanded another GH¢1, 600 from the second victim using the same modus operandi.

Later, the suspect handed over a fake receipt to the two victims adding that he purchased the cow legs but the vehicle had broken down at Niger boarder and that within two weeks, the victims would receive their goods.

The suspect after the act went into hiding and was not seen until April 8, 2014 when one of the victims spotted him at Olebu and handed him over to the police.

In his caution statement however, Adjei admitted to the act and added that he defrauded the pastors to defray a debt he owned another person.

The suspect had been slapped with the offence of fraud and would be sent to court soon.
