A 23-year-old mobile phone repairer who is adept at breaking into people's homes and stealing their valuable items at Teshie has been apprehended by the police.

The suspect, Dennis Quaye, 23, was arrested in the act and nearly lynched by residents when police quickly moved in to save him.

He is currently in the custody of the Teshie police and charged with the offence of stealing.

Briefing DAILY GUIDE, DSP Simons Agbedeka, Teshie District Police Commander said the incident took place on March 25, 2014 around 12:00pm.

According to him, the owner of the house had locked the main doors and left for work but the suspect managed to scale the fence wall, broke into the apartment and attempted to enter the bedroom of victim.

A neighbour who heard a strange noise coming from the room, entered the house, and queried the suspect.

Quaye initially told the woman that he was sent to work on the doors by the owner of the house, but when he was probed further, he took to his heels.

The suspect was immediately chased and apprehended by residents who nearly lynched him but police heard of the news and proceeded to the scene to save him.

In his caution statement, Quaye admitted to the offence and pleaded for mercy.

The suspect is in custody and would be sent to court for attempted stealing.
