UN Coordinator Ends Her 4-Year Term Of Service In Ghana

Accra, 10th March, 2014 - Ms. Ruby Sandu-Rojon departs Ghana on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 to take up her new assignment as Deputy Assistant Administrator and Deputy Regional Director, Regional Bureau for Africa in New York.

Until her new appointment, Ruby has been serving in Ghana as the UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative since 2010. As Resident Coordinator, she has been ensuring the effective positioning of the UN System through a proactive engagement at the highest levels of Government with development partners, NGOs and think tanks.

Prior to this she served as UNDP Country Director, Burkina Faso (2007-2010); Chief of the Africa Section, UN Volunteers, Germany (2004-2006); Senior Evaluation Adviser, Evaluation Office, UNDP (2002-2004); UNDP Deputy Resident Representative, Madagascar (1999-2002); Special Assistant to the Administrator, Office of the Administrator, UNDP, New York (1997-1999); Programme Officer Africa Section, UNIFEM, New York (1995-1997) and Regional Officer for West, Central and North Africa, UNIFEM, Senegal (1987-1995).

Ms. Sandhu-Rojon is from the United States of America and holds an MSC in Russian Politics from the London School of Economics, and a BA in Political Science specializing in International Economics and Politics from Bryn Mawr College, USA.

Ruby will take up her new assignment on 17 March 2014. She will be sorely missed by the entire UN family and partners.
