Ghana's 2014 World Cup qualifying Group opponent Zambia could lose their head coach to French side Sochaux, Ghanasoccernet.com understands.
The Ligue 1 side have parted ways with their manager Eric Hely and have lined up the former Ghana physical trainer to fill the void.
However, he is facing competition from former Stade Rennes boss Frederic Antonini as he has also been mentioned in the French media as a likely candidate for the post.
Renard failed to qualify Zambia to the final qualification stages in the African qualifying series after losing to Ghana in Kumasi.
His future with the Chipolopolos has come under close scrutiny following his failure but he has not officially spoken about his future with the Southern Africans.
Renard is regarded as favourite for the post and Sochaux officials are weighing the option of handing him the job as he has stated in the past that he would like to manage a club in the French top-flight.
Sochaux officials feel Renard has what it takes to guide the side after successfully managing Zambia and guiding them to success in the 2012 AFCON in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
