Centre holds corporate social responsibility training

The Centre for Corporate Responsibility (CCR) of the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) has held a training programme on the theme: 'An Introduction to Corporate Social Responsibility.'

The programme was facilitated by Dr William Durban, an international CSR consultant, and Dr Dan Ofori, Co-ordinator of the CCR and Senior lecturer of the University of Ghana Business School.

Dr Ofori explained that the centre aimed to equip stakeholders with the requisite knowledge and outlook to put sustainability and responsibility at the heart of their operations by integrating CSR behaviour within organisations. He reiterated the CCR's mission of creating a new generation of business leaders with the know-how, commitment and passion for responsible corporate leadership

Dr Durban explained the concepts, definitions, theories and trends of CSR; the strategies for effective CSR communication and engagement with companies, as well as global best practices of CSR across sectors.

The training programme was attended by 15 participants from various private, public and non-governmental organisations.

The CCR was established under a co-operation agreement between the UGBS and the Centre for Co-operation with the Private Sector (CCPS) of GIZ, South Africa.
