Two lives perished leaving seven (7) others injured when a head-on collision occurred between two taxi cars.

The incident happened at a place called Hill City which is on the off Agona Swedru Road unto the Gomoa Aboso- Gomoa Afranse Road in the Gomoa East District in the Central Region.

All two vehicles involved in the accident are KIA Sephia with registration numbers as GR 9634Z and GW 5028 Z.

The two persons who lost their lives in the accident are Abdul Rahman who is the driver for the taxi with registration number GR 9634Z while the other, Ernest Mensah was a passenger on board the taxi with registration number GW 5028 Z.

According to Inspector Sampson Boamah, Abdul Rahman died on the spot after the accident while Ernest Mensah went into coma. He said Ernest was rushed to the Hospital for treatment but died later after hours of treatment.

Inspector Sampson Boamah said, the accident occurred when Abdul Rahman in a careless fun-fair driving, wanted to overtake a long lined-up vehicles on the Aboso Road when he collided with Kofi Amissah's taxi with registration number GW 5028 Z who was on his right route from Gomoa Obuase.

He said, Abdul Rahman is said to have been jubilating unnecessarily with his taxi (GR 9634Z) on the road when his friend who died sometime ago was taken from the Swedru Hospital morgue by the family to be buried on that Saturday.

In his excessive jubilation and misbehaving on the road, while his other colleagues on board the taxi too were riding outside the vehicle (i.e. sitting on the door of the car with your legs inside the car while the rest of your body is outside the car as the glasses of the car are rolled down - in a like manner popularly known in the local language as 'Aplanke'), Abdul Rahman overtook all the vehicles before him on a high speed when he came face-to-face with the other on-coming taxi (GW 5028 Z).

According to Inspector Boamah, the body of Abdul Rahman has been released to the family to be buried in line with the Muslim customs.

However, the 7 other people who were injured included 5 males and 2 females and are receiving and responding to treatment at the Agona Swedru Municipal Hospital.

The seven people are Kofi Amissah who is the driver for the taxi with registration number (GW 5028 Z), Grace Tetteh, Eric Koomson, Adu-Kwaw Michael, Kwabena Sam, Kwabena Atta and Mercy Donkoh.

The Police however, arrested 30 other people who were found misbehaving with their cars and unlawfully blocking the pliable roads in the process.
