Domeabra (Ash), May 17, GNA - Mobile Telecommunication Network (MTN) is investing US5 million this year in network infrastructure to enhance the quality of its services.
Mr James Bukari Basintale, the General Manager, Northern Business District, said a lot of expansion work and upgrades would be carried out as a result of the injection.
He appealed to all and sundry to help protect fiber optic cables underground to ensure uninterrupted quality service delivery.
Mr Basintale announced this at a ceremony to mark the start of construction works on a GH¢399,510-dormitory block for the Owerriman Senior High School (SHS) at Domeabra in the Asante-Akim North district.
The project, meant to ease congestion and provide space for admission of more students, is being funded by the MTN Ghana Foundation.
Mr Basintale said the project was MTN's contribution towards the attainment of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
He said MTN through its Foundation would continue to be associated with efforts at improving the country's education and health infrastructure.
He said it was on account of that that they had within the last six years invested over GH¢11 million in projects in these sectors.
The Ashanti Region had already benefitted from projects amounting to GH¢688,120.00. The projects include construction of a six-unit classroom with office and store at Juaso-Nkyesa School, refurbishment of a library at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and Information Communication Technology Centre (ICT) in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) at Nyinahin.
Nana Frimpong Afoakwa, Omanhene of Domeabra, thanked MTN for the gesture and urged other organizations to emulate the organisation.
