
Takoradi, March 26, GNA - Mr Moses Dostey Aklorbortu of Graphic Group of Communication was on Tuesday elected the Western Regional Chairman of the Ghana Journalists Association with 30 votes.
He beat Mr Clement Adzei-Boye who polled 14 votes at the elections held on Thursday.
Mrs Mildred Siabi-Mensah of Ghana News Agency also won overwhelmingly with 37 votes to beat the incumbent treasurer Mr Peter Gbambila of Ghanaian Times who polled 9 votes.
Mr Mark Essien of the Daily Guide and Mr Godwill Arthur Mensah were returned unopposed for the secretary and vice chairman positions respectively.
On the national level provisional results for the region saw Mr Mathias Tibu winning with 27 votes to beat Mr Abu Issa Monnie, who polled 17 for the vice president position, whiles Mrs Linda Asante -Agyei of Ghana News Agency polled 32 votes to win the treasurer position against Madam Rosalind Koramah Amoh who had 9 votes.
With 26 votes Madam Mary Mensah won the Public Affairs slot to remove Madam Yaa Edusei with 15 votes.
Three rejected ballots were recorded in a vote had the total population of 46 out of 50 journalists in good standing to cast their votes.
