The Director of Police Operations, COP John Kudalor says a special operations mounted to rid Kumasi of criminals terrorizing residents has been successful.
The exercise is in response to a recent incident involving unidentified gunmen who rained terror on pedestrians around Abrepo Junction, Bantama and Kejetia by firing sporadic gunshots.
The gunmen also stole mobile phones, monies and other gadgets form nearby shops.
In a quick response to the incident, a police reinforcement led by COP Kudalor was dispatched to Kumasi to assess the situation.
He told Joy News over 40 motorbikes have been seized and the criminals are being hounded through the special operation.
He said the police deployment, which has been welcomed by residents, “has [forced] those hooligans who wanted to create fear and panic to go underground.”
COP Kudalor advises the public to be security conscious and quickly alert the police of suspicious persons.
