Mampong (Ash), March 6, GNA - Pupils and students from 24 basic and senior high schools in the Asante Mampong Municipality took part in the 56th independence parade held at the Tadiem Park at Mampong.
Mr Daniel Apau Ohyeaman, the Municipal Chief Executive, appealed to Ghanaians to form a united front against poverty and unemployment in the country.
Speaking on the theme 'partnership and innovation for building a new and better Ghana', Mr Ohyeaman said Ghanaians could also propel the fortunes of the nation in a positive direction through partnership and innovation.
He said the only legacy the country could bequeath the youth was peace, saying, if divisive tendency became the order of the day through partisan politics, the nation would be taken aback.
The Grace Preparatory School at Asante Mampong came first at the march pass while the Unity Basic Academic and SDA Primary school placed second and third respectively.
In the Junior High School category, the Mampong RC JHS came first followed by Saint Andrews Practice School, and Saint Monica's JHS.
Saint Monica's Senior High School was first in the SHS category followed by Amaniampong SHS and Saint Joseph's SHS.
