The National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, Mr Kwasi Ashiamah has won the Buem constituency by-election in the Volta region.
The 43-year-old marketer replaces Henry Ford Kamel, who passed away on Christmas Day after winning the seat on the ticket of the NDC in the 2012 general elections.
Kamel, who was also Volta Regional Minister was laid to rest last weekend.
Voter turnout in the by-election was reported to be low perhaps due to the fact that the constituents were still mourning late MP.
Some of them had wanted the by-election to be postponed for at least a week or two.
