Kumasi, Feb 15, GNA - MTN Ghana Foundation, has organized a blood donation campaign in support of blood bank of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).
In all, 93 pints of blood, was donated by volunteers, who responded to programme, which coincided with the celebration of this year's Valentine Day.
Dr Mrs Shirley Owusu-Ofori, Head of KATH's Transfusion Medicine Unit, pleaded with the public to regularly and freely donate blood to save lives.
She said given the strategic location of the referral facility, it was important to ensure adequate blood stock to deal with emergencies.
Dr Mrs Owusu-Ofori expressed gratitude to the MTN Ghana Foundation for the initiative and the donors for their service to humanity.
The Community Relations Advisor of the Foundation, Mrs Charity Darko, said MTN was determined to improve the quality of life of the people.
She similar campaigns had earlier been organized for hospitals in Accra and Takoradi.
