
Electronic Giants, Philips Africa, today announced the official appointment of Mr. Abdallah Khamis to the newly created role of General Manager & Head for Philips West Africa.
Mr. Khamis will be based in Accra and will head the new Philips West African regional office (in Accra) which will be fully operational by the second quarter of 2013. This new position reflects Philips' strategy to invest in and develop the key growth markets of West Africa.
Mr. Khamis will report directly to Mr. JJ van Dongen, Senior Vice President and CEO – Philips Africa. In addition to his responsibility for the overall Philips West Africa operations and business growth agenda in the Western Region, Mr Khamis is also appointed as the General Manager, Philips Consumer Lifestyle (West Africa) with direct responsibility for the Consumer Lifestyle business.

Biodata Of Abdallah Khamis
Mr. Khamis, a Kenyan national, attained his Bachelor of Education Science Honors Degree in Biological Sciences in 1995, followed by a Masters in Business Administration in Marketing and Strategy (MBA) from the University of Nairobi, Kenya in 2000. He also holds a Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing, United Kingdom (UK) and a Masters in Business Administration (Sloan MBA) from Sloan School of Management, Cambridge, MA, USA (in 2012).
His marketing and business fundamentals have allowed him to develop a strong understanding of both consumer and brand dynamics, across multiple markets in Africa.
Prior to joining Philips, Mr. Khamis spent twelve successful years with The Coca-Cola company in a variety of commercial and general management positions. From 2000 to 2011, Mr. Abdallah held several positions of increased responsibility in Commercial, Customer and Franchise Leadership spanning East, Horn and West African countries. He was the Franchise Manager for Coca-Cola Nigeria (Lagos-West) from 2008 to June 2011.
Mr Abdallah started his career in the pharmaceutical industry with Cadilla East Africa before moving to GlaxoSmithKline where he worked for over 5 years.
