Rivonia Polo Club has won its first Golden Trophy of the year 2013 as the team put up an outstanding performance in the finals of the Vodafone Accra Open Polo Championship which came off over the weekend at the Accra Polo Club.
Rivonia won the four-day tournament which started last week Wednesday to Friday by beating their key rivals African Poli-Stars 6:4 in a startling hotly contested finals played on Saturday, 12th January, 2013.
Great players like Jamil Ibrahim, Amanda Blaire, Sowee Sanio and Dawula Baba, who formed the line-up of the Rivonia Polo Team, displayed great skills of play and ensured that their team emerged victors.
African Poli-Stars who also had talented players like Bival Madari, Kojo Darko, Darko Agyeman and Harold Awuah Darko could not stand in the way of Rivonia since they proved too hot to handle on the day.
At the end, African Poli-Stars went two goals adrift as Rivonia banged in 6 goals to lift the golden trophy at stake.
The Vodafone Accra Open Polo Championship is the biggest polo match in Ghana and was opened to all polo fans and members of the general public.
The 4-day tournament was proudly sponsored by Vodafone Business Solutions (VBS).
