Akufo Addo, Jake And Akyem Faction Of NPP In Deliberate Sabotage

The “dispute-the-results” tactic that is currently being executed by a 'section' of the leading figures of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) including the flag bearer Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is in my opinion not an afterthought of the elections but rather a long-standing contingency plan of the Akyem gurus of the NPP to sabotage whoever emerges as the new flag bearer of the NPP in 2016.

Before we look at why this is so, let me fill you in on the summary of the electoral results. H.E. President John Mahama of the National Democratic Congress swept eight (8) regions out of ten (10) and further garnered 28.35 per cent of Ashanti region and 42.61 per cent of Eastern region.

Further, the NDC won a decisive majority in Parliament with whopping 151 seats whiles the NPP placed second with 120 seats. With this clear-cut victory, the chairman of EC Dr. AfariDjan on last Sunday declared the John Mahama the President Elect of our Republic.

Even before the EC's declaration, all credible media houses including those perceived as NPP-friendly stations and international media put the NDC in a lead. Also, local, continental and global observers of the elections have lauded the EC and government for once again a successful free, fair and transparent elections.

My point is that, Akufo-Addo and his compatriots know deep within them that indeed the elections were free and fair, that they lost the elections, that they have no case against EC because there's no case, that they have no evidence because there's no evidence, and that eventually their allegations will be thrown out of court. But nonetheless, they continue with this façade.

The question therefore is why? Why would Akufo-Addo and his guys continue to court if they know they have no case? Dear reader, the answer lies in the following paragraphs.

In my earlier article entitled Insurmountable Roadblocks of Nana AkuffoAddo's ambitionon allghananews.com, in which I mentioned four things that would hinder Akufo-Addo from becoming a president I stated that there is an ethnic element, i.e. the Akyem and Ashanti scuffle within the NPP that would in no uncertain terms cause Akufo-Addo the 2012 election.

Further, I stated that, this presented Akufo-Addo and his campaign team a herculean task of riding the elephant into the Castle because it would mean that certain folks within the NPP have interests in Akufo-Addo's failure and would have more likely worked against him during the electioneering period.

This surely embittered Akufo-Addo and he seems to me like a very vindictive fellow who would travel to planet Mars to get his revenge.

In local Ghanaian parlance, there's a saying that “ebekorgaol die enkor corner” which literally means that “if the ball is to enter the goal post then it's better the defender kicks it away for a corner-kick”. And that is exactly what Akufo-Addo is doing. Because NPP has a solid chance to win in 2016 but everything Akufo-Addo and his team have engineered the NPP to do in the past few days quashes this chance.

The NPP's constitution does not permit Akufo-Addo to run as flag bearer again therefore paving way for the next flag bearer of the NPP to become president in 2016. Akufo-Addo's embittered state makes his paranoid and suspicious, he may have suspected a few people within the NPP to be behind his downfall so that those people will benefit in 2016. As clearly as everyone can see, the next candidacy of the NPP will fall to the Ashanti bloc.

This is what 'pains' Akufo-Addo even more than it does to him with the NDC's victory. He may be feeling that the Ashanti bloc have connived to see him lose the election so that they can benefit in 2016 so therefore “enkor corner”.

It can also be recalled that Ben Ephson before the polls said that, whichever party loses the 2012 election will stand a huge chance of being split.

In conclusion, I hold the view that, NPP's cry over being cheated, attacks on media personnel, violent attacks on NDC supporters, harsh words on radio and TV is all being brilliantly engineered by Akufo-Addo and his friends to destroy the NPP's chance in 2016.
